Don’t Just Zone Out, Find Purposeful Enjoyment

If you’re anything like me, your various feeds are constantly filled with motivation and productivity ‘hacks’. You want to get more out of yourself. You want to be the best version of yourself that you can be.

To do that, assuming you are still like me, you try to eat right and succeed some of the time. You try to exercise, again, you succeed some of the time. You try to make sure that you sleep well, this one you might not succeed as much at.

This week, in one of my dives into the productivity hack void, I learned about the acronym FREE. Unfortunately, I can’t remember which article or video I learned it from, but it got stuck in my brain. It stands for Food, Rest, Eating, and Enjoyment. These are the things that the person in the article recommended for a happy life.

For me, I prioritize food, rest, and eating well but sometimes miss out on enjoyment. I think that is mostly because I don’t set aside time for enjoyment specifically which makes it so that down time turns into Netflix marathons that really don’t bring me joy but do distract me from all of the things that I ‘should’ be doing. Instead, I should be making time for purposeful enjoyment and you should too!

I hope that you already do this but if you don’t, let this post serve as a reminder that you deserve more than zoning out in front of a screen. You deserve to set time aside for yourself to relax and enjoy yourself.

In the comments below share the things that bring you purposeful enjoyment so that we can all learn from each other.
